Legal Services

The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) was established in 1981 to serve the legal needs of the University of Minnesota, including all of the University’s campuses and operations. General Counsel Mark B. Rotenberg supervises and directs the activities of an in-house staff of attorneys, legal assistants and support personnel, as well as outside counsel. The OGC is located at McNamara Alumni Center, University of Minnesota Gateway, Suite 360, 200 Oak Street S.E., Minneapolis, MN 55455-2006; telephone 612-624-4100, fax 612-626-9624.

Students and employees may also contact the University of Minnesota Law School Legal Aid Clinic at 612-625-5515, or one of the many legal aid offices in the state, although income and other eligibility requirements will apply. In addition, many county bar associations offer lawyer referral services. They are listed in local phone directories.
