New Copyright Law
The new copyright law makes it a federal crime to:

Make a sound recording of live musical performance without the consent of the performers or make copies of such a recording or transmit such a recording - up to 5 years in federal prison or a fine;

Copy, reproduce or distribute, including by electronic means, at least 10 copies of audio or audio/video recordings during any 180-day period that have a total retail value of $2,500 or more - up to 5 years in federal prison and a fine;

Placing a copyright notice on an article with intent to defraud - up to $2,500 fine;

Removing a copyright notice from an article with intent to defraud - up to $2,500 fine; and

Making a false statement on copyright registration application - up to $2,500 fine.
